22nd Annual CCA Banquet
The Galveston Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is holding its 22nd Annual Banquet on Saturday, August 2 at the Galveston Island Convention Center. The Chapter board and banquet committee have planned a great event with plenty of new auction items. They are raffling off a 21’ Tunnel Explorer by Dargel with a Yamaha 4 Stroke F 150 and a McLain Trailer. Tickets are $100 and only 400 will be sold. Movie Nite on The Strand
Despicable Me is playing Saturday, August 2, at 7 p.m. at Saengerfest Park located at 2300 Strand. Grab your chairs, blankets and pillows and head downtown for this free family-friendly movie under the stars. Held the first Saturday of each month, films begin at dusk at Saengerfest Park.

5th Annual BrewMasters Craft Beer Festival
In its 5th year, BrewMasters Craft Beer Festival has been tapped as one of the 10 Best Beer Fests in America by Thrillist cited as one of the best festivals to enjoy international brews. Join fellow craft beer lovers and supporters as they gather Labor Day weekend to celebrate and sample more than 400 specialty and hard-to-find brews. This foamtastic celebration takes place at Moody Gardens Friday, August 29 through Sunday August 31.
Featured activities include: Beach, Brews and Bands with performances by Rat Ranch on Saturday, August 30 and Jared Waggoner on Sunday, August 31 with fireworks on the beach at Palm Beach, educational events, a slew of Brew Brains and industry experts including award-winning BrewMasters and home brewing masters.
Festivities begin on Friday, August 29 with BrewLicious Brews and Foods Pairing. This spectacular evening for suds sippers is for the serious beer and culinary enthusiast. Every featured beer will be paired with food with a focus on high-end, premium, unique beer paired with just the perfect culinary accompaniment. BrewLicious Brews and Foods will run from 7 until 10 p.m. Tickets are $75.
Also on tap is the BrewMasters Pub Crawl Friday, August 29 at 8 p.m. Hop on board this festive party bus departing from Moody Gardens with a tour to some of Galveston’s trendiest bars. Meet featured Brew Brains at each stop. Tickets are $25 in advance.
If you are Texas beer fan, and who isn’t, make your first stop of the day on Saturday August 30 the Texas Brewery Tasting Tour. You’ll have a rare opportunity to take a tasting tour in a small group and intimate environment to enjoy featured Texas brewed selections. The event runs from 11:30 a.m.until 12:45 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and always sell out.
Then it’s time for the grand tasting. Saturday, August 30 sample some of the best brews in the world made available to beer lovers at the BrewHaHa Grand Tasting held in the Moody Gardens Expo Arena. This Grand Tasting will feature over 400 craft and specialty brews as well as a Wine Escape with wine samplings. Admission to BrewHaHa is $35 in advance, $40 at the door, $85 for a VIP ticket, or choose a multi-event Hopper Pass. The BrewHaHa Grand Tasting will run from 3 until 6:30 p.m. nd includes access to multiple beer seminars on the Spec’s University Seminar Stage, a fun and educational experience for all who take pride in their beer and want to expand their knowledge of craft beers.

Galveston Historic Tour Presents: the ‘Sin City of the South’ Tour
Galveston Historic Tour Presents The Sin City of the South Tour Explore Galveston’s “Free State” period that included bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution. This hour long driving tour will include a history of all three vices, and drive by the Hotel Galvez, Balinese Room site, the old Red Light District, and more! The tour will be every Friday and Saturday in August at 6pm (days may expand due to high demand), and depart from Ashton Villa located at 2328 Broadway. The cost is $15 per person, reservations are required and can be made by calling 409-789-9911.
