Editor’s Note – January
The Islander Magazine is in it’s 10th year, and I could not be more excited about that! Thank you to all the magazine’s fans, subscribers and most of all our advertisers who make the publication possible.
I am truly blessed to be in this business doing what I am passionate about – publishing, design, journalism and photography. And, I get to do it along with a great group of people: My sales team: Leslie Thompson, Tricia Pucciarello, Jessica Dobson and Lori Thompson. I also am blessed to work along side all the other employees who help to make the magazine possible: Esther McKenna, Tony Sassi, Jonathan Lucas, Annie Willow, Tom Behrens, Jan Brick, Heni Glant, Elisabeth Lanier, Carolin Santangelo and David Welch. Looking forward to a great 2012 together! Thanks for all of your hard work.
As I close out the January issue on my birthday during my stay at one of my favorite hotels, The Tremont House, I realize how lucky I am to be able to live in a place I love so much and to be able to love what I do with a great group of people.
I wanted to print this picture sent in by Charlotte Wagner, Interim Curator and Volunteer Coordinator at the Galveston Railroad Museum. It made my day! “They can’t stop talking about the Islander!” Wagner says about the picture she took at the Railroad Museum.
Keep sending in photos and look for the details about our Photo Contest that we are launching next month. The winners of the four categories will get a cash prize!
I am looking forward to this new year and all the exciting things that will be happening on Galveston Island. Be sure to take in the 149th Anniversary of the Battle of Galveston, January 13 through 15, The Inaugural Restaurant Week January 15 through 21, The Annual Chili Quest and Beer Fest on January 20 through 22 and Goody Two Shoes Shoe Contest Decorating Party on January 26.
Happy New Year Islander Readers! Here’s to you giving us 10 years of support!
