Down Memory Lane

In August of this year a Galveston coastal landmark, the 61st Street Fishing Pier reopened, a much-awaited happening by local and state anglers. John Menna, owner, says the Pier is just as it was before the storm.

“It has the same funky colors—purple, lime green, yellow and pink. It has fake palm trees like it used to have. It has all kinds of shrimp nets hanging on the walls, thatch for the roof of the tackle shop. There is an observation deck upstairs to see who is catching what,” said Menna.
